John 7:10-13

John 7:10-13 — But when His brethren were gone up, then went He also up unto the feast, not openly, but as it were in secret.

Then the Jews sought Him at the feast, and said, Where is He?

And there was much murmuring among the people concerning Him: for some said, He is a good man: others said, Nay; but He deceiveth the people.

Howbeit no man spake openly of Him for fear of the Jews.

The Jewish rulers expected Him to show up at the feast (He kept the law — Galatians 4:4)

Everyone was required to go to Jerusalem for the feast (Deuteronomy 16:16), so many were there who had seen His miracles.

In secret — without a large group. Even His brothers didn't know.

Deceiveth the people — by claiming to be the Messiah.
