{"id":9693,"date":"2026-03-25T14:38:42","date_gmt":"2026-03-25T20:38:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/versebyverse.carpelibra.org\/?p=9693"},"modified":"2026-03-25T14:55:04","modified_gmt":"2026-03-25T20:55:04","slug":"ecclesiastes-101-7","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/versebyverse.carpelibra.org\/?p=9693","title":{"rendered":"Ecclesiastes 10:1-7"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"poetry\">\n<h3 class=\"line\"><em><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><span class=\"chapter-2\"><span class=\"text Eccl-10-1\"><span class=\"chapternum\">10\u00a0<\/span>Dead flies\u00a0putrefy the perfumer\u2019s ointment, a<\/span><\/span><span class=\"text Eccl-10-1\">nd cause it to give off a foul odor; s<\/span><span class=\"text Eccl-10-1\">o does\u00a0a little folly to one respected for wisdom\u00a0and honor.<\/span><\/span><\/em><\/h3>\n<h3 class=\"line\"><em><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><span id=\"en-NKJV-17496\" class=\"text Eccl-10-2\"><sup class=\"versenum\">2\u00a0<\/sup>A wise man\u2019s heart\u00a0is at his right hand, b<\/span><span class=\"text Eccl-10-2\">ut a fool\u2019s heart at his left.<\/span><\/span><\/em><\/h3>\n<h3 class=\"line\"><em><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><span id=\"en-NKJV-17497\" class=\"text Eccl-10-3\"><sup class=\"versenum\">3\u00a0<\/sup>Even when a fool walks along the way, h<\/span><span class=\"text Eccl-10-3\">e lacks wisdom, a<\/span><span class=\"text Eccl-10-3\">nd he shows everyone that\u00a0he\u00a0is a fool.<\/span><\/span><\/em><\/h3>\n<h3 class=\"line\"><em><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><span id=\"en-NKJV-17498\" class=\"text Eccl-10-4\"><sup class=\"versenum\">4\u00a0<\/sup>If the spirit of the ruler rises against you, d<\/span><span class=\"text Eccl-10-4\">o not leave your post; f<\/span><span class=\"text Eccl-10-4\">or conciliation pacifies great offenses.<\/span><\/span><\/em><\/h3>\n<h3 class=\"line\"><em><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><sup class=\"versenum\">5\u00a0<\/sup>There is an evil I have seen under the sun, as an error proceeding from the ruler:<\/span><\/em><\/h3>\n<h3 class=\"line\"><em><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><sup class=\"versenum\">6\u00a0<\/sup>Folly is set in great dignity, while the rich sit in a lowly place.<\/span><\/em><\/h3>\n<h3 class=\"line\"><em><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><sup class=\"versenum\">7\u00a0<\/sup>I have seen servants on horses, while princes walk on the ground like servants.<\/span><\/em><\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #008000;\">From the disagreeable effect which the presence of dead flies (v.1) in precious moistures produces in the sultry climate of the East arose the Arabic proverb, &#8220;A fly is nothing, yet it produces loathsomeness.&#8221; The toleration of the slightest folly in the life of a man of reputation will soon cause his reputation to [stink]. \u2014 KJV Commentary, page 751.<\/span><\/h3>\n<h3><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">__________<\/span><\/strong><\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #008000;\">Like fine perfume, the purer one&#8217;s reputation, the greater its liability to ruin. The impact of folly is in direct proportion to one&#8217;s reputation; the greater one&#8217;s reputation for wisdom and honor, the more impact a little folly has on it. It only takes one moment to destroy a reputation that it took a lifetime to build. \u2014 Grace, page 1179.<\/span><\/h3>\n<h3><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">__________<\/span><\/strong><\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #008000;\">In the language of Scripture the right hand (v.2) suggests that which is honorable (Luke 1:11), and the left hand that which is sinister and evil (<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><a style=\"color: #ff0000;\" href=\"https:\/\/versebyverse.carpelibra.org\/?p=3272\">Matthew 25:41<\/a><\/span>). \u2014 KJV Commentary, page 751.<\/span><\/h3>\n<h3><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">__________<\/span><\/strong><\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #008000;\">Even in the most ordinary affairs of life (&#8220;the walking by the way&#8221;), watchfulness, discretion, and intelligence are needed. The fool by his left-handed folly proclaims every day in in the ordinary affairs of life, that he is a fool (v.3).
