8\u00a0<\/sup>The end of a thing\u00a0is better than its beginning; t<\/span>he patient in spirit is better than the proud in spirit.<\/span><\/span><\/em><\/h3>\n

9\u00a0<\/sup>Do not hasten in your spirit to be angry, f<\/span>or anger rests in the bosom of fools.<\/span><\/span><\/em><\/h3>\n

10\u00a0<\/sup>Do not say, <\/span>\u201cWhy were the former days better than these?\u201d <\/span>For you do not inquire wisely concerning this.<\/span><\/span><\/em><\/h3>\n<\/div>\n

11\u00a0Wisdom\u00a0is good with an inheritance, a<\/span>nd profitable to those who see the sun.<\/span><\/em><\/h3>\n

12\u00a0For wisdom\u00a0is\u00a0a\u00a0defense\u00a0as\u00a0money\u00a0is a defense, b<\/span>ut the [g<\/a>]excellence of knowledge\u00a0is that\u00a0wisdom gives\u00a0life to those who have it.<\/span><\/em><\/h3>\n

13\u00a0<\/sup>Consider the work of God; f<\/span>or who can make straight what He has made crooked?<\/span><\/span><\/em><\/h3>\n

14\u00a0<\/sup>In the day of prosperity be joyful, b<\/span>ut in the day of adversity consider: s<\/span>urely God has appointed the one as well as the other, s<\/span>o that man can find out nothing that will come\u00a0after him.<\/span><\/span><\/em><\/h3>\n

Verse 8 \u2014 We cannot know if an undertaking will be profitable until it has been completed (Proverbs 16:25).<\/span><\/h3>\n

proud in spirit (v.8) \u2014 those who brag about accomplishments before they are completed<\/h3>\n

Wisdom shields from the ills of life; and money also shields. from such ills (v.12). But money can be lost, wisdom never. Money shields in prosperity, and for a time; wisdom, in adversity and forever. \u2014 Williams, page 444.<\/span><\/h3>\n

work (v.13) \u2014 God’s provision for us, not His creation<\/h3>\n

consider (v.14) \u2014 Consider this\u2014God brings both adversity and prosperity (Job 2:10; Isaiah 45:7). We cannot change what has been decreed by God and are to accept both from His hand (Philippians 4:11<\/span><\/a>). \u2014 Grace, page 1176.<\/span><\/h3>\n
