10\u00a0<\/sup>For if they fall, one will lift up his companion. <\/span>But woe to him\u00a0who is alone when he falls, f<\/span>or he has no one to help him up.<\/span><\/span><\/em><\/h3>\n

11\u00a0<\/sup>Again, if two lie down together, they will keep warm; b<\/span>ut how can one be warm alone?<\/span><\/span><\/em><\/h3>\n

12\u00a0<\/sup>Though one may be overpowered by another, two can withstand him. <\/span>And a threefold cord is not quickly broken.<\/span><\/span><\/em><\/h3>\n

Verses 9-12 speak of the blessings and benefits of companionship. The Talmud says, “A man without companions is like the left hand without the right.” \u2014 Grace, page 1172.<\/span><\/h3>\n

threefold cord (v.12) \u2014 Three threads are wound together to make strong cord. This was a common proverb at the time. Three, in Hebrew, is the number of completeness.<\/h3>\n

In v.12, I think Solomon is saying that one is vulnerable, two working together have a chance to succeed, but three working together is unbeatable.<\/h3>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
