24 Now Thomas, called the Twin, one of the twelve, was not with them when Jesus came.<\/span><\/em><\/h3>\n

25 The other disciples therefore said to him, “We have seen the Lord.”So he said to them, “Unless I see in His hands the print of the nails, and put my finger into the print of the nails, and put my hand into His side, I will not believe.”<\/span><\/em><\/h3>\n

26 And after eight days His disciples were again inside, and Thomas with them. Jesus came, the doors being shut, and stood in the midst, and said, “Peace to you!”<\/span><\/em><\/h3>\n

27 Then He said to Thomas, “Reach your finger here, and look at My hands; and reach your hand here, and put it into My side. Do not be unbelieving, but believing.”<\/span><\/em><\/h3>\n

28 And Thomas answered and said to Him, “My Lord and my God!”<\/span><\/em><\/h3>\n

29 Jesus said to him,\u00a0 “Thomas, because you have seen Me, you have believed. Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.”<\/span><\/em><\/h3>\n

The disciples first opportunity to witness to the risen Christ was to Thomas (v. 25). It was a failure. He did not believe.<\/h3>\n

nails (v. 25) \u2014 This is the only New Testament reference to the nails. (Some crucified persons were tied to the cross.) This fulfills Psalm 22:16<\/span><\/a>.<\/h3>\n

Jesus’ words to Thomas (v. 27) show that He was aware of what Thomas had said earlier. This shows His omniscience.<\/h3>\n

My God (v. 28) \u2014 This is the only place in the Gospels where Jesus was addressed directly as God.<\/h3>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
