{"id":9167,"date":"2025-05-27T10:07:24","date_gmt":"2025-05-27T16:07:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/versebyverse.carpelibra.org\/?p=9167"},"modified":"2025-05-27T10:08:18","modified_gmt":"2025-05-27T16:08:18","slug":"mark-1524","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/versebyverse.carpelibra.org\/?p=9167","title":{"rendered":"Mark 15:24-32"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3><em><span id=\"en-NKJV-24851\" class=\"text Mark-15-24\" style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><sup class=\"versenum\">24\u00a0<\/sup>And when they crucified Him, they divided His garments, casting lots for them to determine what every man should take.<\/span><\/em><\/h3>\n<h3><em><span id=\"en-NKJV-24852\" class=\"text Mark-15-25\" style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><sup class=\"versenum\">25\u00a0<\/sup>Now it was the third hour, and they crucified Him.<\/span><\/em><\/h3>\n<h3><em><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><span id=\"en-NKJV-24853\" class=\"text Mark-15-26\"><sup class=\"versenum\">26\u00a0<\/sup>And the inscription of His accusation was written above: <\/span><span class=\"text Mark-15-26\">THE KING OF THE JEWS.<\/span><\/span><\/em><\/h3>\n<h3 class=\"first-line-none top-1\"><em><span id=\"en-NKJV-24854\" class=\"text Mark-15-27\" style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><sup class=\"versenum\">27\u00a0<\/sup>With Him they also crucified two robbers, one on His right and the other on His left.<\/span><\/em><\/h3>\n<h3 class=\"first-line-none top-1\"><em><span id=\"en-NKJV-24855\" class=\"text Mark-15-28\" style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><sup class=\"versenum\">28\u00a0<\/sup>So the Scripture was fulfilled which says, <span class=\"oblique\">\u201cAnd He was numbered with the transgressors.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/em><\/h3>\n<h3><em><span id=\"en-NKJV-24856\" class=\"text Mark-15-29\" style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><sup class=\"versenum\">29\u00a0<\/sup>And those who passed by blasphemed Him, wagging their heads and saying, \u201cAha! You who destroy the temple and build it in three days,<\/span><\/em><\/h3>\n<h3><em><span id=\"en-NKJV-24857\" class=\"text Mark-15-30\" style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><sup class=\"versenum\">30\u00a0<\/sup>save Yourself, and come down from the cross!\u201d<\/span><\/em><\/h3>\n<h3><em><span id=\"en-NKJV-24858\" class=\"text Mark-15-31\" style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><sup class=\"versenum\">31\u00a0<\/sup>Likewise the chief priests also, mocking among themselves with the scribes, said, \u201cHe saved others; Himself He cannot save.<\/span><\/em><\/h3>\n<h3><em><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><span id=\"en-NKJV-24859\" class=\"text Mark-15-32\"><sup class=\"versenum\">32\u00a0<\/sup>Let the Christ, the King of Israel, descend now from the cross, that we may see and believe.\u201d <\/span><span class=\"text Mark-15-32\">Even those who were crucified with Him reviled Him.<\/span><\/span><\/em><\/h3>\n<h3>Also found in <a href=\"https:\/\/versebyverse.carpelibra.org\/?p=3353\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Matthew 27:35-44<\/span><\/a>, Luke 23:33-43, and<a href=\"https:\/\/versebyverse.carpelibra.org\/?p=919\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"> John 19:18-22<\/span><\/a>.<\/h3>\n<h3>The casting of lots to divide Jesus&#8217; clothing was prophesied in Psalm <a href=\"https:\/\/versebyverse.carpelibra.org\/?p=3877\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">22:18<\/span><\/a>.<\/h3>\n<h3>third hour (v.25) \u2014 9:00 AM<\/h3>\n<h3>The King of the Jews (v.26) \u2014 The Jews were offended by the title Pilate had written on the inscription. Perhaps it was his way of getting back at the Jewish leaders who had railroaded him into a decision he wanted to avoid.<\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #008000;\">The superscription [v.26] was the board on which was written the charge on which the one to be crucified had been condemned. It was carried before the criminal or affixed to him and later put on the cross. \u2014 Wuest, page 282.<\/span><\/h3>\n<h3>Scripture was fulfilled (v.28) \u2014 Being crucified between two criminals fulfilled the prophecy of Isaiah 53:12, although Mark 15:28 doesn&#8217;t appear in most manuscripts.
