And Pilate said to them, &#8220;Behold the Man!&#8221;<\/span><\/em><\/h3>\n<h3><em><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">6 Therefore, when the chief priests and officers saw Him, they cried out, saying, &#8220;Crucify Him, crucify Him!&#8221;Pilate said to them, &#8220;You take Him and crucify Him, for I find no fault in Him.&#8221;<\/span><\/em><\/h3>\n<h3><em><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">7 The Jews answered him, &#8220;We have a law, and according to our law He ought to die, because He made Himself the Son of God.&#8221;<\/span><\/em><\/h3>\n<h3><em><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">8 Therefore, when Pilate heard that saying, he was the more afraid.<\/span><\/em><\/h3>\n<h3>scourged (v. 1) \u2014 Isaiah 53:5; 1 Peter 2:24. This was probably done with a whip with bits of metal and bone set into the straps.<\/h3>\n<h3>Pilate had Jesus beaten as a compromise to save Him from being put to death. After the soldiers beat Him, they mocked Him.
