Again, I leave the world and go to the Father.&#8221;<\/span><\/em><\/h3>\n<h3><em><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">29 His disciples said to Him, &#8220;See, now You are speaking plainly, and using no figure of speech!<\/span><\/em><\/h3>\n<h3><em><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">30 Now we are sure that You know all things, and have no need that anyone should question You. By this we believe that You came forth from God.&#8221;<\/span><\/em><\/h3>\n<h3><em><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">31 Jesus answered them, &#8220;Do you now believe? <\/span><\/em><\/h3>\n<h3><em><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">32 Indeed the hour is coming, yes, has now come, that you will be scattered, each to his own, and will leave Me alone. And yet I am not alone, because the Father is with Me.<\/span><\/em><\/h3>\n<h3><em><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">33 These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.&#8221;<\/span><\/em><\/h3>\n<h3>The world preaches God&#8217;s love, but Christ says that God&#8217;s love is for those who love the Son and believed on Him (v. 27).<\/h3>\n<h3>love (v. 27) \u2014 <em>phileo <\/em>= fondness, intimate friendliness<\/h3>\n<h3>Verse 28 is a summary of Christ&#8217;s entire ministry.<\/h3>\n<h3>At this point (v. 29), Christ spoke plainly and didn&#8217;t use parables.<\/h3>\n<h3>Quote (v. 32) is from Zechariah 13:7: <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><em>&#8220;Awake, O sword, against My Shepherd, against the Man who is My Companion,&#8221; says the Lord of hosts. &#8220;Strike the Shepherd, and the sheep will be scattered; Then I will turn My hand against the little ones.&#8221;<\/em> <span style=\"color: #000000;\">(See <a href=\"https:\/\/versebyverse.carpelibra.org\/?p=3284\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Matthew 26:31<\/span><\/a> and Mark 14:27)<\/span><\/span><\/h3>\n<h3>Christ knew the disciples would abandon Him (v. 32) but He offered them peace and hope (v. 33).
