{"id":8425,"date":"2023-09-06T09:45:09","date_gmt":"2023-09-06T15:45:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/versebyverse.carpelibra.org\/?p=8425"},"modified":"2023-09-06T09:45:09","modified_gmt":"2023-09-06T15:45:09","slug":"psalm-119113-120","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/versebyverse.carpelibra.org\/?p=8425","title":{"rendered":"Psalm 119:113-120"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3 class=\"psalm-acrostic\" style=\"text-align: center;\"><em><span id=\"en-NKJV-16012\" class=\"text Ps-119-113\" style=\"color: #0000ff;\">SAMEK<\/span><\/em><\/h3>\n<div class=\"poetry\">\n<h3 class=\"line\" style=\"text-align: center;\"><em><span class=\"text Ps-119-113\" style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><sup class=\"versenum\">113\u00a0<\/sup>I hate the double-minded,<\/span><\/em><br \/>\n<em><span class=\"text Ps-119-113\" style=\"color: #0000ff;\">But I love Your law.<\/span><\/em><\/h3>\n<h3 class=\"line\" style=\"text-align: center;\"><em><span id=\"en-NKJV-16013\" class=\"text Ps-119-114\" style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><sup class=\"versenum\">114 <\/sup>You are my hiding place and my shield;<\/span><\/em><br \/>\n<em><span class=\"text Ps-119-114\" style=\"color: #0000ff;\">I hope in Your word.<\/span><\/em><\/h3>\n<h3 class=\"line\" style=\"text-align: center;\"><em><span id=\"en-NKJV-16014\" class=\"text Ps-119-115\" style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><sup class=\"versenum\">115 <\/sup>Depart from me, you evildoers,<\/span><\/em><br \/>\n<em><span class=\"text Ps-119-115\" style=\"color: #0000ff;\">For I will keep the commandments of my God!<\/span><\/em><\/h3>\n<h3 class=\"line\" style=\"text-align: center;\"><em><span id=\"en-NKJV-16015\" class=\"text Ps-119-116\" style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><sup class=\"versenum\">116 <\/sup>Uphold me according to Your word, that I may live;<\/span><\/em><br \/>\n<em><span class=\"text Ps-119-116\" style=\"color: #0000ff;\">And do not let me be ashamed of my hope.<\/span><\/em><\/h3>\n<h3 class=\"line\" style=\"text-align: center;\"><em><span id=\"en-NKJV-16016\" class=\"text Ps-119-117\" style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><sup class=\"versenum\">117 <\/sup>Hold me up, and I shall be safe,<\/span><\/em><br \/>\n<em><span class=\"text Ps-119-117\" style=\"color: #0000ff;\">And I shall observe Your statutes continually.<\/span><\/em><\/h3>\n<h3 class=\"line\" style=\"text-align: center;\"><em><span id=\"en-NKJV-16017\" class=\"text Ps-119-118\" style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><sup class=\"versenum\">118 <\/sup>You reject all those who stray from Your statutes,<\/span><\/em><br \/>\n<em><span class=\"text Ps-119-118\" style=\"color: #0000ff;\">For their deceit is falsehood.<\/span><\/em><\/h3>\n<h3 class=\"line\" style=\"text-align: center;\"><em><span id=\"en-NKJV-16018\" class=\"text Ps-119-119\" style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><sup class=\"versenum\">119 <\/sup>You put away all the wicked of the earth like\u00a0dross;<\/span><\/em><br \/>\n<em><span class=\"text Ps-119-119\" style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Therefore I love Your testimonies.<\/span><\/em><\/h3>\n<h3 class=\"line\" style=\"text-align: center;\"><em><span id=\"en-NKJV-16019\" class=\"text Ps-119-120\" style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><sup class=\"versenum\">120 <\/sup>My flesh trembles for fear of You,<\/span><\/em><br \/>\n<em><span class=\"text Ps-119-120\" style=\"color: #0000ff;\">And I am afraid of Your judgments.<\/span><\/em><\/h3>\n<h3>The psalmist here tells how the Word of God protects him from false teachers.<\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #008000;\">It is precisely to this event [when Messiah takes the throne in Jerusalem] of the inevitable divine triumph over all evil and evildoers (v.115, referring not just to sinners\u2014which we all are\u2014but to those who live by sin in opposition to God and encourage others to do the same, as in Isaiah 9:17; <a href=\"https:\/\/versebyverse.carpelibra.org\/?p=3905\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Psalm 26:5<\/span><\/a>; Proverbs 17:4; etc.) that the psalmist refers by his declaration in verse 119 &#8220;Thous hast removed all the wicked of the earth like dross&#8221;\u2014in which the past tense verb is intended to underscore the absolute certainty of the event described. \u2014 Wechsler, pages 286-287.<\/span><\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">__________<\/span><\/strong><\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #008000;\">False teaching leads into sin; and, consequently, false teachers are evil-doers (v.115).
