And Peter said to Him, &#8220;Lord, are You washing my feet?&#8221;<\/span><\/em><\/h3>\n<h3><em><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">7 Jesus answered and said to him, &#8220;What I am doing you do not understand now, but you will know after this.&#8221;<\/span><\/em><\/h3>\n<h3><em><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">8 Peter said to Him, &#8220;You shall never wash my feet!&#8221;Jesus answered him, &#8220;If I do not wash you, you have no part with Me.&#8221;<\/span><\/em><\/h3>\n<h3><em><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">9 Simon Peter said to Him, &#8220;Lord, not my feet only, but also my hands and my head!&#8221;<\/span><\/em><\/h3>\n<h3><em><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">10 Jesus said to him, &#8220;He who is bathed needs only to wash his feet, but is completely clean; and you are clean, but not all of you.&#8221;<\/span><\/em><\/h3>\n<h3><em><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">11 For He knew who would betray Him; therefore He said, &#8220;You are not all clean.&#8221;<\/span><\/em><\/h3>\n<h3>Are <u>You<\/u> washing <u>my<\/u> feet (v. 6) emphasis in original Greek<\/h3>\n<h3>after this (v. 7) \u2014 after the Spirit had come and made things clear<\/h3>\n<h3>part (v.8) \u2014 fellowship, new nature communion (<a href=\"https:\/\/versebyverse.carpelibra.org\/?p=5017\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">2 Corinthians 6:15<\/span><\/a>)<\/h3>\n<h3>he who is bathed (v. 10) \u2014 the new birth, regeneration by water (the Word) and the Spirit (<a href=\"https:\/\/versebyverse.carpelibra.org\/?p=3648\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Titus 3:5<\/span><\/a>). Once accomplished, it cannot be repeated.<\/h3>\n<h3>needs only to wash his feet (v. 10) \u2014 referring to the believer&#8217;s walk which needs the cleansing of the Word (<a href=\"https:\/\/versebyverse.carpelibra.org\/?p=3783\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Ephesians 5:25-26<\/span><\/a>). But the believer needs no further washing because, before God, he is spotless.<\/h3>\n<h3>The first &#8220;washing&#8221; in verse 10 is from the Greek word for &#8220;bathed.&#8221; The second washing is from the Greek word for &#8220;cleaning the extremities.&#8221;<\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #009900;\">This same distinction was plainly marked in the Old Testament. When Aaron and his sons were consecrated, they were bathed all over (Exodus 29:4; Leviticus 8:6); but at the laver it was only their hands and feet which were daily cleaned (Exodus 30:19-21). \u2014 Pink, page 308 <\/span><\/h3>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>6 Then He came to Simon Peter.
