\u00a011<\/strong><\/sup>This He said, and after that He said to them, “Our friend Lazarus has fallen asleep; but I go, so that I may awaken him out of sleep.” <\/span><\/em><\/h3>\n

\u00a012<\/strong><\/sup>The disciples then said to Him, “Lord, if he has fallen asleep, he will recover.” <\/span><\/em><\/h3>\n

\u00a013<\/strong><\/sup>Now Jesus had spoken of his death, but they thought that He was speaking of literal sleep. <\/span><\/em><\/h3>\n

\u00a014<\/strong><\/sup>So Jesus then said to them plainly, “Lazarus is dead, <\/span><\/em><\/h3>\n

\u00a015<\/strong><\/sup>and I am glad for your sakes that I was not there, so that you may believe; but let us go to him.” <\/span><\/em><\/h3>\n

\u00a016<\/strong><\/sup>Therefore Thomas, who is called Didymus, said to his fellow disciples, “Let us also go, so that we may die with Him.”<\/span><\/em><\/h3>\n

asleep (v. 11) \u2014 Jesus is omniscient. He knew Lazarus was dead.<\/h3>\n

I was not there (v. 15) \u2014 If Jesus had been there, Lazarus wouldn’t have died and the disciples wouldn’t have learned the truth about the resurrection.<\/h3>\n

There is no record of anyone dying in Jesus presence or an any dead person in His presence staying dead. Even the thieves on the cross died after He died.<\/h3>\n

that we may die with\u00a0 Him (v. 16) \u2014 Thomas thought Jesus would be killed. Thomas had love but not faith.<\/h3>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
