{"id":760,"date":"2010-01-13T05:00:23","date_gmt":"2010-01-13T11:00:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/versebyverse.carpelibra.org\/?p=760"},"modified":"2022-01-18T10:43:20","modified_gmt":"2022-01-18T16:43:20","slug":"john-111-6","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/versebyverse.carpelibra.org\/?p=760","title":{"rendered":"John 11:1-6"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3><em><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">\u00a0<sup class=\"versenum\"><strong>1<\/strong><\/sup>Now a certain man was sick, Lazarus of Bethany, the village of Mary and her sister Martha. <\/span><\/em><\/h3>\n<h3><em><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">\u00a0<sup class=\"versenum\"><strong>2<\/strong><\/sup>It was the Mary who anointed the Lord with ointment, and wiped His feet with her hair, whose brother Lazarus was sick. <\/span><\/em><\/h3>\n<h3><em><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">\u00a0<sup class=\"versenum\"><strong>3<\/strong><\/sup>So the sisters sent word to Him, saying,&#8221; Lord, behold, he whom You love is sick.&#8221; <\/span><\/em><\/h3>\n<h3><em><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">\u00a0<sup class=\"versenum\"><strong>4<\/strong><\/sup>But when Jesus heard this, He said, &#8220;This sickness is not to end in death, but for the glory of God, so that the Son of God may be glorified by it.&#8221; <\/span><\/em><\/h3>\n<h3><em><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">\u00a0<sup class=\"versenum\"><strong>5<\/strong><\/sup>Now Jesus loved Martha and her sister and Lazarus. <\/span><\/em><\/h3>\n<h3><em><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">\u00a0<sup class=\"versenum\"><strong>6<\/strong><\/sup>So when He heard that he was sick, He then stayed two days longer in the place where He was.<\/span><\/em><\/h3>\n<h3>Lazarus = God is help<\/h3>\n<h3>Mary&#8217;s annointing (v. 2) \u2014 <a href=\"https:\/\/versebyverse.carpelibra.org\/?p=3276\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Matthew 26:6-13<\/span><\/a>; Mark 14:3-9<\/h3>\n<h3>The sisters made no request (v. 3). They simply informed Jesus of Lazarus&#8217;s sickness and trusted Him.<\/h3>\n<h3>Jesus was at Behabara, two days journey away. Lazarus was probably already dead when Jesus got the message that he was sick.<\/h3>\n<h3>for the glory of God \u2014 as in the case of the blind man (<a href=\"https:\/\/versebyverse.carpelibra.org\/?p=720\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">John 9:3<\/span><\/a>)<\/h3>\n<h3>Jesus waited two days (v. 6) \u2014 Lazarus&#8217;s body had started to rot. None could deny a miracle had occurred. It wasn&#8217;t for lack of love or concern that caused Jesus to wait\u2014it was God&#8217;s timing.<\/h3>\n<h3>Jesus claimed that He was life.
