7<\/sup> Then Jesus said to them again, \u201cMost assuredly, I say to you, I am the door of the sheep.<\/span><\/em><\/h3>\n

8<\/sup> All who ever came before Me are thieves and robbers, but the sheep did not hear them.<\/span><\/em><\/h3>\n

9<\/sup> I am the door. If anyone enters by Me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture.<\/span><\/em><\/h3>\n

10<\/sup> The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.<\/span><\/em><\/h3>\n

door of the sheep (v. 7) \u2014 The only way to become a member of His flock is through Him.<\/h3>\n

all who ever came before Me (v. \u00a08) \u2014 all who claim a higher position than Him. Any, like the Pharisees (9:16<\/span><\/a>, 24<\/span><\/a>), who claimed to know more than Christ and denied His Messianic authority. (Perhaps the Pharisees, Sadducees and Essenes were the three false shepherds prophesied in Zechariah 11:8 who misled the Jews before Christ came.<\/h3>\n

I am the door (v.\u00a0\u00a09) \u2014 in anticipation of His death and resurrection. It is by these, and not by His earthly ministry, that He brings salvation.<\/h3>\n

will go in and out (v.\u00a0 9) \u2014 perhaps the\u00a0liberty of the saved as opposed to the law (the fold); or, life without fear. (Deuteronomy 28:6; Psalm 121:8).<\/h3>\n

thief (v. 10) \u2014 one whose intention is to hurt the sheep. Uses stealth.<\/h3>\n

door (v. 1) \u2014 the way into Judaism<\/h3>\n

door (v. 7) \u2014 the way out of Judaism<\/h3>\n

door (v. 9) \u2014 salvation to Jew<\/h3>\n
