{"id":7302,"date":"2023-01-09T14:05:28","date_gmt":"2023-01-09T20:05:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/versebyverse.carpelibra.org\/?p=7302"},"modified":"2023-01-09T14:07:56","modified_gmt":"2023-01-09T20:07:56","slug":"psalm-93","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/versebyverse.carpelibra.org\/?p=7302","title":{"rendered":"Psalm 93"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"poetry\">\n<h3 class=\"line\" style=\"text-align: center;\"><em><span class=\"chapter-2\" style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><span class=\"text Ps-93-1\">1 The <span class=\"small-caps divine-name\">Lord<\/span> reigns, He is clothed with majesty;<\/span><\/span><\/em><br \/>\n<em><span class=\"text Ps-93-1\" style=\"color: #0000ff;\">The <span class=\"small-caps divine-name\">Lord<\/span> is clothed,<\/span><\/em><br \/>\n<em><span class=\"text Ps-93-1\" style=\"color: #0000ff;\">He has girded Himself with strength.<\/span><\/em><br \/>\n<em><span class=\"text Ps-93-1\" style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Surely the world is established, so that it cannot be moved.<\/span><\/em><\/h3>\n<h3 class=\"line\" style=\"text-align: center;\"><em><span id=\"en-NKJV-15429\" class=\"text Ps-93-2\" style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><sup class=\"versenum\">2 <\/sup>Your throne is established from of old;<\/span><\/em><br \/>\n<em><span class=\"text Ps-93-2\" style=\"color: #0000ff;\">You are from everlasting.<\/span><\/em><\/h3>\n<\/div>\n<h3 class=\"line\" style=\"text-align: center;\"><em><span id=\"en-NKJV-15430\" class=\"text Ps-93-3\" style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><sup class=\"versenum\">3\u00a0<\/sup>The floods have lifted up, O <span class=\"small-caps divine-name\">Lord<\/span>,<\/span><\/em><br \/>\n<em><span class=\"text Ps-93-3\" style=\"color: #0000ff;\">The floods have lifted up their voice;<\/span><\/em><br \/>\n<em><span class=\"text Ps-93-3\" style=\"color: #0000ff;\">The floods lift up their waves.<\/span><\/em><\/h3>\n<h3 class=\"line\" style=\"text-align: center;\"><em><span id=\"en-NKJV-15431\" class=\"text Ps-93-4\" style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><sup class=\"versenum\">4 <\/sup>The <span class=\"small-caps divine-name\">Lord<\/span> on high is mightier<\/span><\/em><br \/>\n<em><span class=\"text Ps-93-4\" style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Than the noise of many waters,<\/span><\/em><br \/>\n<em><span class=\"text Ps-93-4\" style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Than the mighty waves of the sea.<\/span><\/em><\/h3>\n<h3 class=\"line\" style=\"text-align: center;\"><em><span id=\"en-NKJV-15432\" class=\"text Ps-93-5\" style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><sup class=\"versenum\">5\u00a0<\/sup>Your testimonies are very sure;<\/span><\/em><br \/>\n<em><span class=\"text Ps-93-5\" style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Holiness adorns Your house,<\/span><\/em><br \/>\n<em><span class=\"text Ps-93-5\" style=\"color: #0000ff;\">O <span class=\"small-caps divine-name\">Lord<\/span>, forever.<\/span><\/em><\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #008000;\">Though this psalm has no heading in the Hebrew text, early Jewish tradition attributes it to David and also identifies it as the psalm that was recited by the Levites in the Second Temple on the sixth day of the week (i.e., Friday\u2014because on it &#8220;He completed His work (of Creation) and commended reigning over (all) of them (i.e., His creations)&#8221; (God&#8217;s universal rule also being the theme of this psalm). \u2014 Wechsler, page 225.<\/span><\/h3>\n<h3><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">__________<\/span><\/strong><\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #008000;\">It is thought that this Psalm dates from the Assyrian invasion, and that it is the might of the terrible Assyrian foes which is here compared to the mighty breakers of the sea. &#8230; This, and the six Psalms which follow, have always been applied by the Jews to the days of the Messiah. Surely then we may apply them to the Lord Jesus. \u2014 Meyer, page 113<\/span><\/h3>\n<h3>The Lord reigns (v.1) \u2014 Stated six times in Scripture \u2014 1 Chronicles 16:31; Psalm 93:1; 96:10; 97:1; 99:1: Revelation 19:6. Literally &#8220;has been reigning&#8221;\u2014since Creation.<\/h3>\n<h3>floods (v.3) \u2014 Symbol of the nations<\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #008000;\">God&#8217;s rule over Creation is further affirmed by the fact that the most awe-inspiring manifestation of power and might within Creation yet pales in comparison to God&#8217;s own. This point is vividly depicted by the psalmist&#8217;s reference to &#8220;the floods&#8221; (repeated three times for utmost [superlative] emphasis) &#8220;pounding waves,&#8221; &#8220;many waters,&#8221; and &#8220;mighty breakers,&#8221; all of which is meant to symbolize the inexorable and overwhelming power of Creation as perceived by man, yet which is still not more mighty than the Lord on high &#8230; \u2014 Wechsler, page 226.<\/span><\/h3>\n<h3><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">__________<\/span><\/strong><\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #008000;\">As [the Lord] stilled the raging of the Galilean sea (<a href=\"https:\/\/versebyverse.carpelibra.org\/?p=652\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">John 6:16-21<\/span><\/a>) so will He still the future raging of the hostile nations and establish universal peace. \u2014 Williams, page 372<\/span><\/h3>\n<h3>testimonies (v.5) \u2014 God&#8217;s Word, and the Law in particular<\/h3>\n<h3>holiness (v.5) \u2014 separation from any and all things evil.<\/h3>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>1 The Lord reigns, He is clothed with majesty; The Lord is clothed, He has girded Himself with strength.
