{"id":686,"date":"2009-10-15T05:00:21","date_gmt":"2009-10-15T11:00:21","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/versebyverse.carpelibra.org\/?p=686"},"modified":"2022-01-14T13:11:31","modified_gmt":"2022-01-14T19:11:31","slug":"john-732-36","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/versebyverse.carpelibra.org\/?p=686","title":{"rendered":"John 7:32-36"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3><em><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><sup>32<\/sup> The Pharisees heard the crowd murmuring these things concerning Him, and the Pharisees and the chief priests sent officers to take Him. <\/span><\/em><\/h3>\n<h3><em><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><sup class=\"versenum\">33<\/sup> Then Jesus said to them, \u201cI shall be with you a little while longer, and then I go to Him who sent Me. <\/span><\/em><\/h3>\n<h3><em><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><sup class=\"versenum\">34<\/sup> You will seek Me and not find Me, and where I am you cannot come.\u201d <\/span><\/em><\/h3>\n<h3><em><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><sup class=\"versenum\">35<\/sup> Then the Jews said among themselves, \u201cWhere does He intend to go that we shall not find Him? Does He intend to go to the Dispersion among the Greeks and teach the Greeks? <\/span><\/em><\/h3>\n<h3><em><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><sup class=\"versenum\">36<\/sup> What is this thing that He said, \u2018You will seek Me and not find Me, and where I am you cannot come\u2019?\u201d<\/span><\/em><\/h3>\n<h3>The Pharisees hated Him, and especially that everyone was talking about Him (v.32). They sent soldiers for Him but they couldn&#8217;t touch Him. Instead, they listened to what He had to say (<a href=\"https:\/\/versebyverse.carpelibra.org\/?p=693\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">v. 45<\/span><\/a>).<\/h3>\n<h3>and then I go (v.33) \u2014 of His own will. They tried to get rid of Him. He said He <u>would<\/u> be with them until He chose to leave.<\/h3>\n<h3>seek and not find (verse 34) \u2014 said to the Jewish people who would look for the Messiah.<\/h3>\n<h3>not find me (verse 34) \u2014 because 1) He would be in heaven, and 2) their unbelief<\/h3>\n<h3>They thought He was going to the Jews who lived among the Greeks throughout the Roman Empire and that He would teach the Greeks also (v.35).<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Proverbs 1:24-28 \u2014 <em>Because I have called and you refused,\u00a0I have stretched out my hand and no one regarded,\u00a0because you disdained all my counsel,\u00a0and would have none of my rebuke,\u00a0I also will laugh at your calamity;\u00a0I will mock when your terror comes,\u00a0when your terror comes like a storm,\u00a0and your destruction comes like a whirlwind,\u00a0when distress and anguish come upon you.\u00a0Then they will call on me, but I will not answer;\u00a0They will seek me diligently, but they will not find me.<\/em><\/span><\/h3>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Isaiah 55:6 \u2014 <em>Seek the LORD while He may be found,\u00a0call upon Him while He is near.<\/em> <\/span><\/h3>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Luke 13:24-25 \u2014 <em>Strive to enter through the narrow gate, for many, I say to you, will seek to enter and will not be able. When once the Master of the house has risen up and shut the door, and you begin to stand outside and knock at the door, saying, &#8220;Lord, Lord, open for us,&#8221; and He will answer and say to you, &#8220;I do not know you, where you are from.&#8221;<\/em><\/span><\/h3>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Dispersion \u2014 used only here and in James 1:1 and in 1 Peter 1:1. Evidence that both James and Peter were writing to Jews.<\/h3>\n<h3>Where I am you cannot come (v.36) \u2014 His deity, in heaven.
