{"id":626,"date":"2009-07-28T05:00:59","date_gmt":"2009-07-28T11:00:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/1002things.com\/?p=626"},"modified":"2022-01-11T08:28:13","modified_gmt":"2022-01-11T14:28:13","slug":"john-517-18","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/versebyverse.carpelibra.org\/?p=626","title":{"rendered":"John 5:17-18"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3><em><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">17 But Jesus answered them, My Father worketh hitherto, and I work. <\/span><\/em><\/h3>\n<h3><em><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">18 Therefore the Jews sought the more to kill Him, because He not only had broken the sabbath, but said also that God was His Father, making Himself equal with God.<\/span><\/em><\/h3>\n<h3>God rested on the seventh day because His <em>work of creation<\/em> was finished. It was good. But when man sinned, God&#8217;s <em>work of redemption<\/em> began. The Father has been unfolding His plan for redemption, and now the Son had arrived to do His role.<\/h3>\n<h3>hitherto (v. 17) = until now<\/h3>\n<h3>Jesus Christ is in fellowship with God and shares His council and His work. He is equal with God and therefore God.<\/h3>\n<h3>He said &#8220;<u>My<\/u> Father,&#8221; not &#8220;<u>our<\/u> Father.&#8221; He had a relationship with God they couldn&#8217;t have.
