{"id":609,"date":"2009-07-07T05:00:15","date_gmt":"2009-07-07T11:00:15","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/1002things.com\/?p=609"},"modified":"2022-01-10T11:34:57","modified_gmt":"2022-01-10T17:34:57","slug":"john-425-30","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/versebyverse.carpelibra.org\/?p=609","title":{"rendered":"John 4:25-30"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3><em><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">25 The woman saith unto Him, I know that Messias cometh, which is called Christ: when He is come, He will tell us all things. <\/span><\/em><\/h3>\n<h3><em><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">26 Jesus saith unto her, I that speak unto thee am He. <\/span><\/em><\/h3>\n<h3><em><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">27 And upon this came his disciples, and marvelled that He talked with the woman: yet no man said, What seekest thou? or, Why talkest Thou with her? <\/span><\/em><\/h3>\n<h3><em><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">28 The woman then left her waterpot, and went her way into the city, and saith to the men, <\/span><\/em><\/h3>\n<h3><em><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">29 Come, see a man, which told me all things that ever I did: is not this the Christ? <\/span><\/em><\/h3>\n<h3><em><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">30 Then they went out of the city, and came unto Him.<\/span><\/em><\/h3>\n<h3>The woman had her sin and false worship exposed. She longed for the Messiah who would make it all clear to her.<\/h3>\n<h3>I know the Messiah comes (v.25) \u2014 in response to Christ&#8217;s words, &#8220;the hour comes.&#8221;<\/h3>\n<h3>The woman expressed her desire for the Messiah and Jesus immediately responded, in essence, &#8220;You have Him&#8221; (v.26). I that speak unto thee am He = literally, &#8220;I AM that speaketh unto thee.&#8221; I AM is a title of Jehovah. <em><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I AM (<a href=\"https:\/\/versebyverse.carpelibra.org\/?p=718\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">John 8:58<\/span><\/a>).<\/span><\/em><\/h3>\n<h3>Jesus avoided telling the Jews He was the Messiah. <em><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Then came the Jews round about Him, and said unto Him, How long dost Thou make us to doubt? If Thou be the Christ, tell us plainly (<a href=\"https:\/\/versebyverse.carpelibra.org\/?p=752\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">John 10:24<\/span><\/a>).<\/span><\/em> They didn&#8217;t understand what and who the Messiah was, but He told the Samaritans.<\/h3>\n<h3>The disciples wondered that Jesus would talk with a Samaritan, but they knew better than to ask Him about it (v.27). As a rule, Rabbis didn&#8217;t talk with women (and certainly not ones with this woman&#8217;s reputation) and Jews didn&#8217;t talk with Samaritans.<\/h3>\n<h3>left her water pot (v.28) \u2014 left her errand undone. Her spiritual thirst was satisfied.
