9 That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.<\/span><\/em><\/h3>\n

10 He was in the world, and the world was made by Him, and the world knew Him not.<\/span><\/em><\/h3>\n

11 He came unto His own, and His own received Him not.<\/span><\/em><\/h3>\n

Christ came to Israel, but He cast light on every man. Romans 9:4-5<\/span><\/a> \u2014 Who are Israelites; to whom pertaineth the adoption, and the glory, and the covenants, and the giving of the law, and the service of God, and the promises; whose are the fathers, and of whom as concerning the flesh Christ came, who is over all, God blessed for ever. Amen.<\/em><\/span><\/h3>\n

Verse 9 literally reads, “This was the light, which, coming into the world, lightens every man.”<\/h3>\n

He was in the world as God, evident through the creation He made. Romans 1:19-22<\/span><\/a> \u2014 Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them. For the invisible things of Him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse. Because that, when they knew God, they glorified Him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened. Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools.<\/em><\/span><\/h3>\n

His own (first usage) \u2014 His own things. His own world that He made. His own country and temple.<\/h3>\n

His own (second usage) \u2014 Israel. Literally, His own subjects. It wasn’t that Israel didn’t recognize Him \u2014 they refused to receive Him.<\/h3>\n
