1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. <\/span><\/em><\/h3>\n

2 The same was in the beginning with God.<\/span><\/em><\/h3>\n

The first handful of verses in John\u00a0make seven points:<\/h3>\n

    Christ’s eternity of being<\/h3>\n<\/li>\n
  2. \n

    His distinct personality<\/h3>\n<\/li>\n
  3. \n

    His true Deity<\/h3>\n<\/li>\n
  4. \n

    His unchanging relationship with the Father<\/h3>\n<\/li>\n
  5. \n

    His full glory in creation<\/h3>\n<\/li>\n
  6. \n

    His life-giving power<\/h3>\n<\/li>\n
  7. \n

    His incarnation<\/h3>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Christ couldn’t have a beginning because He was the beginning. In the Greek, verse one reads “In beginning … “<\/h3>\n

    Word \u2014 Christ is the express image of God as the spoken word is an image of the thought. He reveals the mind and will of God, as in Genesis 1:3<\/span><\/a> \u2014 “God said …”<\/h3>\n

    We cannot know God except through His Word.<\/h3>\n

    John 3:34<\/span><\/a> \u2014 For He whom God hath sent speaketh the words of God: for God giveth not the Spirit by measure unto Him.<\/em><\/span><\/h3>\n

    John 5:24<\/span><\/a> \u2014\u00a0\u00a0Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth My word, and believeth on Him that sent Me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.<\/em><\/span><\/h3>\n

    John 14:10<\/span><\/a> \u2014 Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in Me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of Myself: but the Father that dwelleth in Me, He doeth the works.<\/em><\/span><\/h3>\n

    Hebrews 1:1-2<\/span><\/a> \u2014 God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets, Hath in these last days spoken unto us by His Son, whom He hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also He made the worlds.<\/em><\/span><\/h3>\n

    Psalm 33:6<\/span><\/a> \u2014 By the word of the LORD were the heavens made; and all the host of them by the breath of His mouth.<\/em><\/span><\/h3>\n
