He always uses it of fellow believers. Some commentaries question which is meant here.<\/h3>\n<h3>in this matter (v.6) \u2014 the context is sexual immorality \u2014 Paul&#8217;s point is probably that having sex outside of marriage is defrauding a brother of his wife (Exodus 20:17).<\/h3>\n<h3>avenger (v.6) = one who deals justice, one who justly exacts a penalty \u2014 In Greek, frequently used of one who is a special advocate or champion of a particular city.<\/h3>\n<h3>testified (v.6) = solemnly affirm \u2014 an intensified form of the verb translated &#8220;charged&#8221; in <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><a style=\"color: #ff0000;\" href=\"http:\/\/versebyverse.carpelibra.org\/?p=4184\">1 Thessalonians 2:11<\/a><\/span>.<\/h3>\n<h3>for (v.7) \u2014 Paul is listing a second reason for possessing one&#8217;s vessel in honor \u2014 because God, who has done all for us, calls us to holiness.
