30\u00a0<\/sup>For as you were once disobedient to God, yet have now obtained mercy through their disobedience,<\/span><\/em><\/h3>\n

31\u00a0<\/sup>even so these also have now been disobedient, that through the mercy shown you they also may obtain mercy.<\/span><\/em><\/h3>\n

32\u00a0<\/sup>For God has committed them all to disobedience, that He might have mercy on all.<\/span><\/em><\/h3>\n

God’s grace is extended to Gentiles because of Israel’s unbelief.<\/h3>\n

Both Jews and Gentiles are incapable of obtaining salvation by their own efforts, but God’s grace is offered to both.<\/h3>\n

committed = shut up, as in a trap<\/h3>\n

Only when all human merit is swept aside can God’s mercy take effect \u2014 Romans 3:20-21<\/span><\/a> (Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in His sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin. But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets<\/span><\/em>.)<\/h3>\n
