Even if we shouldn&#8217;t read that much into the singular here, it&#8217;s still a fact that Paul was directing his prayer to the Father <em>and<\/em> to Jesus Christ.<\/h3>\n<h3>and (1st use, v.12) = but \u2014 whether Paul came to them or not<\/h3>\n<h3>increase and abound in love (v.12) = &#8220;to be enlarged and to exceed, to go beyond&#8221; \u2014 <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><a style=\"color: #ff0000;\" href=\"http:\/\/versebyverse.carpelibra.org\/?p=1132\">Philippians 1:9<\/a><\/span><\/h3>\n<h3>love (v.12) = <em>agape<\/em><\/h3>\n<h3>to one another and to all (v.12) \u2014 to the Christians in the church and to all other people<\/h3>\n<h3>so that (v.13) \u2014 when they get to the point where they have <em>agape<\/em> love for all, their hearts will be blameless in holiness<\/h3>\n<h3>establish (v.13) = fix firmly, strengthen, support<\/h3>\n<h3>blameless (v.13) \u2014 no charge against them could be maintained<\/h3>\n<h3>saints (v.13) = lit. &#8220;different,&#8221; holy ones. Some commentators think it refers to angels in this context (<a href=\"https:\/\/versebyverse.carpelibra.org\/?p=6106\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">2 Thessalonians 1:7<\/span><\/a>). The word &#8220;saints&#8221; also seems to refer to angels in Jude 1:14<\/h3>\n<h3>Stam has a different take:<\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #008000;\">But how can His coming <em>for<\/em> us be &#8220;the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ <em>with<\/em> all His saints&#8221;?
