13\u00a0<\/sup>For I speak to you Gentiles; inasmuch as I am an apostle to the Gentiles, I magnify my ministry,<\/span><\/em><\/h3>\n

14\u00a0<\/sup>if by any means I may provoke to jealousy those who are my flesh and save some of them.<\/span><\/em><\/h3>\n

15\u00a0<\/sup>For if their being cast away is the reconciling of the world, what will their acceptance be but life from the dead?<\/span><\/em><\/h3>\n

Paul was specifically given a ministry to Gentiles and pursued it passionately, but he also hoped that ministry would result in the salvation of individual Jews.<\/h3>\n

In verse 1<\/span><\/a>, “cast away” means to abandon forever. In verse 15, a different Greek word is used, one that means “exclusion from favor.”<\/h3>\n

reconciling of the world \u2014 not the whole world, but all who will<\/u>. It is available to the whole world.<\/h3>\n

life from the dead \u2014 enjoyment of God’s blessings, reconciliation instead of the current alienation.<\/h3>\n

In verse 13, Paul answers a hypothetical question by Gentiles: If he’s the apostle to the Gentiles, why is he worrying about Jews? Paul knew that salvation of Israel would bring salvation to even more Gentiles.<\/h3>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
