{"id":3725,"date":"2015-07-17T10:42:25","date_gmt":"2015-07-17T16:42:25","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/versebyverse.carpelibra.org\/?p=3725"},"modified":"2022-12-16T06:20:26","modified_gmt":"2022-12-16T12:20:26","slug":"ephesians-313-16","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/versebyverse.carpelibra.org\/?p=3725","title":{"rendered":"Ephesians 3:13-16"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3><em><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><span id=\"en-NKJV-29265\" class=\"text Eph-3-13\"><sup class=\"versenum\">13\u00a0<\/sup>Therefore I ask that you do not lose heart at my tribulations for you, which is your glory.<\/span><span id=\"en-NKJV-29266\" class=\"text Eph-3-14\"><\/span><\/span><\/em><\/h3>\n<h3><em><span class=\"text Eph-3-14\" style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><sup class=\"versenum\">14\u00a0<\/sup>For this reason I bow my knees to the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, <\/span><\/em><\/h3>\n<h3><em><span id=\"en-NKJV-29267\" class=\"text Eph-3-15\" style=\"color: #0000ff;\"> <sup class=\"versenum\">15\u00a0<\/sup>from whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named,<\/span><\/em><\/h3>\n<h3><em><span id=\"en-NKJV-29268\" class=\"text Eph-3-16\" style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><sup class=\"versenum\">16\u00a0<\/sup>that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with might through His Spirit in the inner man,<\/span><\/em><\/h3>\n<h3>therefore (v.13) \u2014 referring to <a href=\"https:\/\/versebyverse.carpelibra.org\/?p=3706\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">vs. 1-12<\/span><\/a> in which Paul explains his ministry of the mystery<\/h3>\n<h3>ask (v.13) = to ask for in one&#8217;s own interest<\/h3>\n<h3>lose heart (v.13) = lose courage<\/h3>\n<h3>tribulations (v.13) \u2014 Paul wrote this letter from prison.<\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #008000;\">The greater the office of the sufferer, the more did the afflictions which he was content to endure for them redound to their honor; and the better this was understood by them, the less should they give way to weakness and discouragement. \u2014 Wuest, page 86<\/span><\/h3>\n<h3>for this reason (v.14) \u2014 for the ministry of the mystery, but specifically here that they would stay strong and not lose courage<\/h3>\n<h3>bow my knees (v.14) \u2014 earnest prayer \u2014 not necessarily, but possibly, including the physical act<\/h3>\n<h3>to (v.14) &#8211; facing \u2014 indicating Paul&#8217;s focus on God<\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #008000;\">We noticed that the first prayer <span style=\"color: #000000;\">[<\/span><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><a style=\"color: #ff0000;\" href=\"http:\/\/versebyverse.carpelibra.org\/?p=3684\">Ephesians 1:16<\/a><\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">]<\/span> is addressed to the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, for God as such is the Source of all counsels, but this second prayer, which has to do more with family relationship, is addressed to the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.<\/span><\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #008000;\">When I think of God, I think of the Maker of all things, the Planner of all things who fitted the ages together. But I think of the Father as the One from whose bosom the eternal Son came into this world, becoming Man for our Salvation. Ere He left this scene He said to Mary, &#8220;I ascend unto My Father, and\u00a0 your Father; and to My God, and your God&#8221; (<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><a style=\"color: #ff0000;\" href=\"http:\/\/versebyverse.carpelibra.org\/?p=929\">John 20:17<\/a><\/span>).
