Have You come here to torment us before the time?\u201d<\/span><\/em><\/h3>\n<h3><em><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">30\u00a0Now a good way off from them there was a herd of many swine feeding.<\/span><\/em><\/h3>\n<h3><em><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">31\u00a0So the demons begged Him, saying, \u201cIf You cast us out, permit us to go away\u00a0into the herd of swine.\u201d<\/span><\/em><\/h3>\n<h3><em><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">32\u00a0And He said to them, \u201cGo.\u201d So when they had come out, they went into the herd of swine. And suddenly the whole herd of swine ran violently down the steep place into the sea, and perished in the water.<\/span><\/em><\/h3>\n<h3><em><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">33\u00a0Then those who kept\u00a0them\u00a0fled; and they went away into the city and told everything, including what\u00a0had happened\u00a0to the demon-possessed\u00a0men.<\/span><\/em><\/h3>\n<h3><em><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">34\u00a0And behold, the whole city came out to meet Jesus. And when they saw Him, they begged\u00a0Him\u00a0to depart from their region.<\/span><\/em><\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #008000;\">Gergesenes (v.28) \u2014 Gerasa was a large territory in Perea in which was located near Gerash, one of the cities of Decapolis. Matthew states that He came into the region of the Gadarenes. Gadara was a town in Gerasa some six miles southeast of the Sea of Galilee. \u2014 Pentecost, page 221.<\/span><\/h3>\n<h3>demons (v.28) \u2014 fallen angels who followed Satan \u2014 there were two men, but many demons. In <a href=\"https:\/\/versebyverse.carpelibra.org\/?p=8913\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Mark 5:9<\/span><\/a>, the demons give their name as Legion, which means many.<\/h3>\n<h3>the time (v.29) \u2014 of judgment (Revelation 20:10)<\/h3>\n<h3>Son of God (v.29) \u2014 The demons recognized Christ (James 2:19) and also knew their ultimate fate.<\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #008000;\">swine (v.30) \u2014 These unclean beasts were not considered fit for food, in accordance with Mosaic Law (Leviticus 11:7). But they were apparently tended by degraded Jews who sought gain by selling them to the Gentiles. Such became the occupation of the prodigal (Luke 15:15).
