But He was asleep.<\/span><\/em><\/h3>\n<h3><em><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">25\u00a0Then His disciples came to\u00a0Him\u00a0and awoke Him, saying, \u201cLord, save us! We are perishing!\u201d<\/span><\/em><\/h3>\n<h3><em><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">26\u00a0But He said to them,\u00a0\u201cWhy are you fearful, O you of little faith?\u201d\u00a0Then He arose and rebuked the winds and the sea, and there was a great calm.<\/span><\/em><\/h3>\n<h3><em><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">27\u00a0So the men marveled, saying, \u201cWho can this be, that even the winds and the sea obey Him?\u201d<\/span><\/em><\/h3>\n<h3>into a boat (v.23) \u2014 to cross the Sea of Galilee from Capernaum to Gadara<\/h3>\n<h3>tempest (v.24) \u2014 A storm so violent that it panicked the disciples, some of whom were fishermen.<\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #008000;\">Although the Sea of Galilee is but a small body, yet because of its position deep down between high hills, it is subject to sudden storms of great intensity, caused by shifting air-strata and heavy winds coming through the passes with tremendous velocity. These storms come up very quickly and often with scarcely any warning. \u2014 Ironside, page 96.<\/span><\/h3>\n<h3>why are you fearful? (v.26) \u2014 <em>He<\/em> had told them to get in the boat and why \u2014 to get to the other side (v.18), not to die.<\/h3>\n<h3>O you of little faith (v.26) \u2014 Christ used this phrase four times to His disciples: 1) <a href=\"https:\/\/versebyverse.carpelibra.org\/?p=2768\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Matthew 6:30<\/span><\/a> \u2014 in the Sermon on the Mount regarding worry; 2) Matthew 8:26 \u2014 in response to their fear; 3) <a href=\"https:\/\/versebyverse.carpelibra.org\/?p=2963\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Matthew 14:31<\/span><\/a> \u2014 to Peter when he doubted when walking on the water; 4) <a href=\"https:\/\/versebyverse.carpelibra.org\/?p=3116\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Matthew 16:8<\/span><\/a> \u2014 when his disciples were reasoning among themselves how to feed the 5,000.<\/h3>\n<h3>rebuked (v.26) \u2014 He said &#8220;Peace, be muzzled&#8221; (Mark 4:39)<\/h3>\n<h3>This event is also recorded in <a href=\"https:\/\/versebyverse.carpelibra.org\/?p=8909\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Mark 4:35-41<\/span><\/a> and Luke 8:22-25.<\/h3>\n<h3>I think Morgan&#8217;s application has some merit. We tend to think that happiness is the default mode in this life and that troubles are the exception, and as soon as troubles arise, we focus on them and fight to be rid of them.<\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #008000;\">Sometimes it is better not to wake Jesus when we are troubled.
