{"id":264,"date":"2007-12-02T06:00:08","date_gmt":"2007-12-02T12:00:08","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/1002things.com\/?p=264"},"modified":"2022-03-10T10:28:22","modified_gmt":"2022-03-10T16:28:22","slug":"romans-28-9","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/versebyverse.carpelibra.org\/?p=264","title":{"rendered":"Romans 2:8-9"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3><span id=\"en-NKJV-27970\" class=\"text Rom-2-7\"> <\/span> <em><span id=\"en-NKJV-27971\" class=\"text Rom-2-8\" style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><sup class=\"versenum\">8\u00a0<\/sup>but to those who are self-seeking and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness\u2014indignation and wrath,<\/span><\/em><\/h3>\n<h3><em><span id=\"en-NKJV-27972\" class=\"text Rom-2-9\" style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><sup class=\"versenum\">9\u00a0<\/sup>tribulation and anguish, on every soul of man who does evil, of the Jew first and also of the Greek;<\/span><\/em><\/h3>\n<h3>self-seeking= those who create rivalry or factions, those who resist the will and way of God.<\/h3>\n<h3>Obey = habitual course of conduct, yielding to and cooperating with unrighteousness, by impulse<\/h3>\n<h3>Wrath = the feeling of God&#8217;s anger.<\/h3>\n<h3>Indignation = the manifestation of the feeling.<\/h3>\n<h3>Tribulation = suffering<\/h3>\n<h3>Anguish = shut up without the possibility of escape, distress.<\/h3>\n<h3>So, wrath is God&#8217;s attitude toward sin, indignation is His expression of that wrath. Tribulation is the result of His expression and anguish is the realization of what is taking place.<\/h3>\n<h3>Soul = person<\/h3>\n<h3>Because the gospel was to the Jew first, so are the consequences of unrighteousness. With greater privilege comes greater responsibility.<\/h3>\n<h3>First = especially<\/h3>\n<h3>What Paul is doing in these verses is establishing that God rewards the good.
