{"id":2532,"date":"2013-09-16T05:00:59","date_gmt":"2013-09-16T11:00:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/versebyverse.carpelibra.org\/?p=2532"},"modified":"2022-04-22T08:29:47","modified_gmt":"2022-04-22T14:29:47","slug":"1-corinthians-1545-50","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/versebyverse.carpelibra.org\/?p=2532","title":{"rendered":"1 Corinthians 15:45-50"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3><em><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><sup>45\u00a0<\/sup>And so it is written,\u00a0\u201cThe first man Adam became a living being.\u201d\u00a0The last Adam\u00a0became\u00a0a life-giving spirit.<\/span><\/em><\/h3>\n<h3><em><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><sup>46\u00a0<\/sup>However, the spiritual is not first, but the natural, and afterward the spiritual.<\/span><\/em><\/h3>\n<h3><em><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><sup>47\u00a0<\/sup>The first man\u00a0was\u00a0of the earth,made\u00a0of dust; the second Man\u00a0is\u00a0the Lord\u00a0from heaven.<\/span><\/em><\/h3>\n<h3><em><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><sup>48\u00a0<\/sup>As\u00a0was\u00a0the\u00a0man\u00a0of dust, so also\u00a0are\u00a0those\u00a0who are made\u00a0of dust; and as\u00a0is\u00a0the heavenly\u00a0Man,\u00a0so also\u00a0are\u00a0those\u00a0who are\u00a0heavenly.<\/span><\/em><\/h3>\n<h3><em><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><sup>49\u00a0<\/sup>And as we have borne the image of the\u00a0man\u00a0of dust, we shall also bear\u00a0the image of the heavenly\u00a0Man.<\/span><\/em><\/h3>\n<h3><em><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><sup>50\u00a0<\/sup>Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; nor does corruption inherit incorruption.<\/span><\/em><\/h3>\n<h3>written (v.45) \u2014 <a href=\"https:\/\/versebyverse.carpelibra.org\/?p=4492\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Genesis 2:7<\/span><\/a><\/h3>\n<h3>Adam (v.45) \u2014 had life, but couldn&#8217;t give life to others<\/h3>\n<h3>spiritual is not first (v.46) \u2014 Humans begin with only the natural life and then receive the spiritual<\/h3>\n<h3>of the earth (v.47) \u2014 Adam was formed of the dust of the ground<\/h3>\n<h3>earthy (v.47) = lit. &#8220;dusty, muddy&#8221; \u2014 referring to origin and characteristics<\/h3>\n<h3>the Lord (v.47) \u2014 not in the best manuscripts<\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #008000;\">From Adam all members of the human race spring. From Christ all members of the new world of Christian men spring. After creating Adam, the creative process ceased. From Adam the race springs by natural law. After Christ the incarnation ceased. From Him the new race springs by spiritual law. \u2014 Laurin, page 296.<\/span><\/h3>\n<h3>heavenly (v.48) \u2014 referring to origin (in the sense of where He was from) and characteristics<\/h3>\n<h3>those who are made of dust (v.48) \u2014 those descended from Adam \u2014 humanity \u2014 those who take on his characteristics<\/h3>\n<h3>those who are heavenly (v.48) \u2014 those who receive spiritual life from Christ are &#8220;seated together with Christ in heavenly places&#8221; and take on heavenly characteristics<\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #008000;\">Just as surely as we now bear the image of the muddy old Adam so surely shall we bear the image of the heavenly Adam. Alas, in this sinful state here below we show His image all too little! God predestinated us to be conformed to the image of His Son (<a href=\"https:\/\/versebyverse.carpelibra.org\/?p=382\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Romans 8:29<\/span><\/a>) and His predetermination shall not fail but will be fully realized some day. Old Adam&#8217;s impress is still in the way. The world is in the way and our sinful old self is still marring our likeness to the Son. With our humiliated bodies we still bear the stamp of old Adam, the mud man, but spiritually we are already united to the second Man from heaven, and no power in heaven, earth or hell can break the bonds that binds us to Him. By looking unto Him we undergo even now a spiritual transformation (<a href=\"https:\/\/versebyverse.carpelibra.org\/?p=4945\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">2 Corinthians 3:18<\/span><\/a>); but at the resurrection His mighty energy shall make even our bodies like unto the body of His glory (<a href=\"https:\/\/versebyverse.carpelibra.org\/?p=1204\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Philippians 3:21<\/span><\/a>). \u2014 Bultema, page 146<\/span><\/h3>\n<h3>image (v.49) = representation and manifestation (<a href=\"https:\/\/versebyverse.carpelibra.org\/?p=382\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Romans 8:29<\/span><\/a>; 1 John 3:2)<\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #008000;\">The two questions raised in <a href=\"https:\/\/versebyverse.carpelibra.org\/?p=2518\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">verse 35<\/span><\/a> have been completely answered. As to the first, it has been show that, instead of resurrection being impossible on account of the condition of the body after death, that very condition is essentially preliminary to resurrection, for it involves the principle of a new life.
