13 <\/sup>For I bear him witness that he has a great zeal for you, and those who are in Laodicea, and those in Hierapolis.<\/span><\/em><\/h3>\n

14\u00a0<\/sup>Luke the beloved physician and Demas greet you.<\/span><\/em><\/h3>\n

15\u00a0<\/sup>Greet the brethren who are in Laodicea, and Nymphas and the church that is in his house.<\/span><\/em><\/h3>\n

16\u00a0<\/sup>Now when this epistle is read among you, see that it is read also in the church of the Laodiceans, and that you likewise read the epistle from Laodicea.<\/span><\/em><\/h3>\n

17\u00a0<\/sup>And say to Archippus, \u201cTake heed to the ministry which you have received in the Lord, that you may fulfill it.\u201d<\/span><\/em><\/h3>\n

Epaphras (v.12) \u2014 See Colossians 1:7<\/span><\/a><\/h3>\n

servant (v.12) \u2014 “Servant” is doulos<\/em>, “a slave.” This title, which the apostle uses several times of himself, is not found elsewhere conferred on any other individual, except once on Timothy (Philippians 1:1<\/span><\/a>), and probably points to exceptional services on the part of Ephaphras. \u2014 Wuest, page 237.<\/span><\/h3>\n

stand perfect (v.12) = be made to stand fast<\/h3>\n

complete (v.12) = having been fully convinced \u2014 in the face of the heresies taught by the Gnostics<\/h3>\n

Laodicea (v.13) \u2014 Laodicea was a larger and richer city than Colossae. It was on the same main road, six miles west, but was at the junction of five roads. Hierapolis was five miles north of Laodicea. \u2014 Vine, page 374.<\/span><\/h3>\n

beloved physician (v.14) \u2014 probably a reference to Luke as Paul’s personal physician<\/h3>\n

Demas (v.14) \u2014 mentioned again only in 2 Timothy 4:10<\/span><\/a> where Paul says Demas has abandoned him<\/h3>\n

Nymphas (v.15) \u2014 probably a woman<\/h3>\n
