{"id":1909,"date":"2012-01-17T05:00:47","date_gmt":"2012-01-17T11:00:47","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/versebyverse.carpelibra.org\/?p=1909"},"modified":"2022-02-23T13:17:15","modified_gmt":"2022-02-23T19:17:15","slug":"acts-2032-38","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/versebyverse.carpelibra.org\/?p=1909","title":{"rendered":"Acts 20:32-38"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3><em><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><sup id=\"en-NKJV-27655\">32<\/sup> \u201cSo now, brethren, I commend you to God and to the word of His grace, which is able to build you up and give you an inheritance among all those who are sanctified.<\/span><\/em><\/h3>\n<h3><em><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><sup id=\"en-NKJV-27656\">33<\/sup> I have coveted no one\u2019s silver or gold or apparel.<\/span><\/em><\/h3>\n<h3><em><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><sup id=\"en-NKJV-27657\">34<\/sup> Yes, \u00a0you yourselves know that these hands have provided for my necessities, and for those who were with me.<\/span><\/em><\/h3>\n<h3><em><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><sup id=\"en-NKJV-27658\">35<\/sup> I have shown you in every way, by laboring like this, that you must support the weak. And remember the words of the Lord Jesus, that He said, \u2018It is more blessed to give than to receive.\u2019\u201d<\/span><\/em><\/h3>\n<h3><em><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><sup id=\"en-NKJV-27659\">36<\/sup> And when he had said these things, he knelt down and prayed with them all.<\/span><\/em><\/h3>\n<h3><em><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><sup id=\"en-NKJV-27660\">37<\/sup> Then they all wept freely, and fell on Paul\u2019s neck and kissed him,<\/span><\/em><\/h3>\n<h3><em><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><sup id=\"en-NKJV-27661\">38<\/sup> sorrowing most of all for the words which he spoke, that they would see his face no more. And they accompanied him to the ship.<\/span><\/em><\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #008000;\">The Word of His grace (v.32) was, of course, the particular message which Paul had been commissioned to proclaim. It was the message for the dispensation now dawning, and it was this message that God would use to establish them in the faith, especially as its glories were further revealed to Paul and through him in his epistles.<\/span><\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #008000;\">How similar is this benediction to that found in a letter the apostle had so recently written: <em>Now to Him who is able to establish you according to my gospel and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery kept secret since the world began (<a href=\"https:\/\/versebyverse.carpelibra.org\/?p=504\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Romans 16:25<\/span><\/a>). \u2014 <\/em>Stam, page 253.<\/span><\/h3>\n<h3>inheritance (v.32) \u2014 This word is used three times in Ephesians.<\/h3>\n<h3>these hands have provided (v.34) \u2014 Paul had paid his own way and that of his companions by working as a tentmaker.<\/h3>\n<h3>I have shown you in every way (v.35) \u2014 I was an example in all things &#8230;<\/h3>\n<h3>laboring (v.25) = fatiguing toil<\/h3>\n<h3>It is more blessed &#8230; (v.35) \u2014 This quote is not recorded in the Gospels.
