{"id":1820,"date":"2012-09-03T05:00:54","date_gmt":"2012-09-03T11:00:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/versebyverse.carpelibra.org\/?p=1820"},"modified":"2023-06-12T05:21:13","modified_gmt":"2023-06-12T11:21:13","slug":"hebrews-1123-29","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/versebyverse.carpelibra.org\/?p=1820","title":{"rendered":"Hebrews 11:23-29"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3><em><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">23 By faith Moses, when he was born, was hidden three months by his parents, because they saw he was a beautiful child; and they were not afraid of the king&#8217;s command.<\/span><\/em><\/h3>\n<h3><em><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">24 By faith Moses, when he became of age, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh&#8217;s daughter,<\/span><\/em><\/h3>\n<h3><em><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">25 choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God than to enjoy the passing pleasures of sin,<\/span><\/em><\/h3>\n<h3><em><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">26 esteeming the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures in Egypt; for he looked to the reward.<\/span><\/em><\/h3>\n<h3><em><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">27 By faith he forsook Egypt, not fearing the wrath of the king; for he endured as seeing Him who is invisible.<\/span><\/em><\/h3>\n<h3><em><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">28 By faith he kept the Passover and the sprinkling of blood, lest he who destroyed the firstborn should touch them.<\/span><\/em><\/h3>\n<h3><em><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">29 By faith they passed through the Red Sea as by dry land, whereas the Egyptians, attempting to do so, were drowned.<\/span><\/em><\/h3>\n<h3>by faith (v.23) \u2014 of Moses&#8217; parents<\/h3>\n<h3>beautiful (v.23) \u2014 physically attractive, but also in the sense that God had a purpose for him (<a href=\"https:\/\/versebyverse.carpelibra.org\/?p=1418\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Acts 7:20<\/span><\/a>)<\/h3>\n<h3>king&#8217;s command (v.23) = mandate \u2014 that all male children were to be killed<\/h3>\n<h3>son of Pharaoh&#8217;s daughter (v.24) \u2014 and probably heir to the throne<\/h3>\n<h3>choosing (v.25) \u2014 choosing as a single and definite act (Exodus 2:11)<\/h3>\n<h3>people of God (v.25) \u2014 it was this, and not just that they were his people, that prompted Moses&#8217; choice<\/h3>\n<h3>esteeming (v.26) \u2014 a single and definite act<\/h3>\n<h3>reproach of Christ (v.26) \u2014 the reproach that Christ endured<\/h3>\n<h3>looked (v.26) = fixed his gaze upon<\/h3>\n<h3>Christ (v.26) \u2014 Moses knew of the Messiah (Deuteronomy 18:15). Moses didn&#8217;t understand what the Messiah would do, or anything except that God would sent a Prophet.
