26<\/sup> For such a High Priest was fitting for us, who is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and has become higher than the heavens;<\/span><\/em><\/h3>\n

27<\/sup> who does not need daily, as those high priests, to offer up sacrifices, first for His own sins and then for the people\u2019s, for this He did once for all when He offered up Himself.<\/span><\/em><\/h3>\n

28<\/sup> For the law appoints as high priests men who have weakness, but the word of the oath, which came after the law, appoints the Son who has been perfected forever.<\/span><\/em><\/h3>\n

holy (v.26) = free of defilement, but also<\/span> gracious<\/h3>\n

harmless (v.26) = faithful and considerate \u2014 entirely free from unkindness, guile and malice<\/h3>\n

undefiled (v.26) = free from all taint. The Old Testament priest had to cleanse himself (Leviticus 16:4). Christ is pure.<\/h3>\n

separate from sinners (v.26) \u2014 a physical separation to heaven \u2014 also, distinct from them and vindicated by God by His resurrection and ascension<\/h3>\n

higher than the heavens (v.26) \u2014 expresses the degree of His exaltation<\/h3>\n

daily (v.27) \u2014 the priests’ need was daily, although their entrance into the Holy of Holies was only once a year<\/h3>\n

for His own sins (v.27) \u2014 Leviticus 4:2-3; 16:6<\/h3>\n

once (v.27) = once for all<\/h3>\n

offered up Himself (v.27) \u2014 2 Corinthians 5:21<\/span><\/a>; 1 Peter 2:24<\/span><\/a>; John 10:18<\/span><\/a><\/h3>\n
