6 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.<\/span><\/em><\/h3>\n

7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.<\/span><\/em><\/h3>\n

careful (v.6) = anxious, having a distracting care \u2014 the habit of worry<\/h3>\n

nothing (v.6) = lit. “not even one thing”<\/h3>\n

prayer (v.6) \u2014 general term \u2014 prayer to God as worship and devotion<\/h3>\n

supplication (v.6) = petition for desired benefits<\/h3>\n

requests (v.6) \u2014 the things asked for<\/h3>\n

peace (v.7) \u2014 a sense of rest and contentment<\/h3>\n

peace of God (v.7) \u2014 more than “peace with God” \u2014 inward tranquility based and grounded on God’s presence<\/h3>\n

understanding (v.7) \u2014 all thinking power: perceiving, knowing, judging, determining<\/h3>\n

keep (v.7) \u2014 a military term \u2014 “to keep with a garrison”<\/h3>\n

heart (v.7) \u2014 the seat of thought and feeling<\/h3>\n

mind (v.7) \u2014 thoughts, mental actions issuing from the mind.<\/h3>\n
