He counts (present tense) <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">all<\/span> things loss except the knowledge of Christ.<\/h3>\n<h3>excellence (v.8) = the surpassing thing<\/h3>\n<h3>knowledge (v.8) \u2014 through intimate fellowship and close association \u2014 knowledge that affects the heart, not just mental knowledge<\/h3>\n<h3>suffered the loss (v.8) \u2014 Paul counted everything as a liability \u2014 lit. &#8220;forfeited&#8221;<\/h3>\n<h3>rubbish (dung\/refuse) (v.8) \u2014 lit.
